Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a structured method of defining and establishing the steps necessary to ensure that a product satisfies customer’s requirements and expectations. It facilitates communications with all personnel involved to ensure that all required steps are completed on time.

Training Subject Overview

Advanced Quality Planning is a process to develop quality information in order to develop counter-measures for avoiding similar problems with future new products.

  • AQP creates product and process definition, manufacturing preparedness and maintainability, and ensures their effective and efficient implementation.
  • The objective of AQP is to produce a product quality plan which supports the development of products or services that satisfy a Customer’s requirements.

    • Plan & Define Program – determining customer needs, requirements & expectations
    • Product Design & Development – review the inputs & execution of the outputs
    • Process Design & Development – features for developing manufacturing systems
    • Product & Process Validation – validation of the selected manufacturing processes
    • Launch, Feedback, Assessment & Corrective Action
    • Focused methods on reduced variation & continuous improvement.
    • Control Plan & Failure Mode & Effects interaction with A(P)QP
    • Documentation requirements incorporating all Quality Planning analysis


  • Understand the reason for and benefits of advanced quality planning.
  • Understand the benefits of Cross Functional Teams and Simultaneous Engineering.
  • Apply AQP project principles related to the scope of a project.
  • Understand and apply the requirements of Process Design and Development.
